In recent years, plastic mats for the fence have gained great popularity among private individuals looking for practical and easy-to-install covers for a fence, balustrade or wicket. These are aesthetic and durable products made of plastic – PVC, polyvinyl chloride (PVC, Poli Vinyl Chloride), i.e. a synthetic chemical compound with a structure composed of chains of large molecules.

Specialized plastic fence mats are multifunctional covers that tightly cover the area and decorate it, creating a coherent, colorful whole along with other elements of the arrangement. Individual mats can be easily combined with each other using uncomplicated mounting accessories, thanks to which you will get a multi-meter, practical aperture.

Among the many products available in stationary and online stores, you will choose different types of plastic garden mat – it comes in several versions, as:

• PVC fence mat (one- or two-sided, imitation of slats of garden fences),

• shading net (garden mat, made of PVC or polyethylene),

• mats imitating plants (for example: pine branches, ivies, blades of grass).

The material, which is polyvinyl chloride, has many advantages. It is resistant to moisture, high and low temperatures, as well as UV radiation. Most of the modern plastic mats available on the market are distinguished by the fact that they do not lose their color and even after a few consecutive seasons of use they look impeccable, have no discoloration, stains or mold.

Another advantage of the material, PVC, is resistance to mechanical damage and dirt. Protective fences, made of artificial slats or mats, composed of fibers imitating fabric do not tear, do not perforate and are not subject to deformation, for many years they retain their structure and aesthetic appearance. To protect the plot from the neighborhood or curious passers-by, tight garden fences will be successfully used, and to protect home plants – freshly planted young conifers or flowers, practical shading nets in rolls will work, thanks to which it is possible to maintain the desired temperature and soil moisture.

In small spaces, such as balustrades or terraces, instead of a garden mat made of plastic, you can use covers in the form of imitation plants or PVC fence tape. Products of this type are very easy to assemble and have universal sizes – so you do not have to cut them, but only weave between the wire elements of the fence or barrier. Before buying a mat, make sure that the product you choose is resistant to UV rays, fading, moisture and changing ambient temperatures. Some mats are intended only for use in the spring and summer season.

How much does a PVC cover mat cost? The shortest covers in the form of double-sided fences (brown, anthracite or green) with a length of 4-5 m, 1 meter high, are an expense of 100-140 zlotys. The average price of 1 m mat (with a height of 0.9-1 m) of PVC ranges from 30 to 35 zlotys, and 1.8 m high mats cost about 50 PLN per 1 m, in stationary and online stores. Any necessary mounting accessories, if they are needed at all, are provided by manufacturers in the price.

An alternative to PVC protective fences are plastic tapes and covers in the form of strips or ready-made mats – artificial hedges. Such covers do not require the purchase of any additional mounting accessories. The average cost of a 26-meter PVC fence tape ranges from 90 to even 170 zlotys, and imitations of coniferous and deciduous plants, made of PVC film with a width of 1 m and a height of 1.2 m, can be purchased at a price starting from 40 zlotys.
