Spray paint mortars
Spray paint mortars are treatments designed to enhance and improve the appearance of painted or lacquered metal coating of fence nets, gates, as well as gutters, trusses or car bodies. In our article you will learn what such ad hoc maintenance is, what preparations are best used and what bugs to avoid, so that the effects last as long as possible.
What products for paint mortars?
If you want to protect small surfaces from corrosion, start by choosing the right preparation. The products most commonly used for stand-alone amateur mortars include:
-
mortar sticks (paints, varnishes in a stick with a brush),
-
spray paints (containing silicone resins),
-
spray galvanized.
You can buy sticks and spray paints on the website of the www.tanidrut.comstore, where you will choose the right shade, tailored to the color scheme of your fence, gutteror fence posts. Before making mortars on the damaged coating, you need to apply extraction gasoline, which is used for local degreasing of the surface. You can also use technical acetone instead.
Spray mortars – what tools will you need?
Most manufacturers of spray spray for mortars do not recommend the use of primers, and therefore you do not need to invest in rollers, brushes or spray gun. You also don't need any additional tools to perform fast aerosol maintenance, except for sandpaper (with varying gradation, suitable for substrate specificity and depth of scratch) or grinder (to smooth surfaces and remove visible corrosion traces) and a soft cotton cloth, needed to clean metal from dust and dust.
If you want to get rid of single, unsaestic scratches or spatter visible on the gate, gate, body or handrail, you can use a mortar stick with a narrow, precise brush instead of using a spray whose radius is too wide to cover the cavities well. Use the finished preparation with the applicator included in the package and bring a simple magnifying glass to better see the damage caused.
Homemade spray paint patches
How to make paint mortars withspray? The aerosol will be used successfully to make minor paint corrections and to correct defects caused by mechanical damage. The treatment is best performed on dry, windless days, when the temperature outside is 15-20 degrees Celsius. If you notice deep scratches or holes, fill up, smooth the surface, and clean again before apply the paint.
Prepare the aerosol by dynamically shaking the can for about 60 seconds, also make a color test on a piece of paper or carton, and then apply the paint directly to the damaged coating, keeping a distance of 30 cm from the metal. (If you place the nozzle closer, furrows, unsightly bulges, and flaky paint may form on the lacquered coating.) Be sure to apply paint patches to a well-skimmed metal, preferably in several stages, that is, instead of one thicker coating, make 2 or 3, so that you get a uniform, bead-free layer.
Paint mortars – practical tips and tricks
It may happen that the paint mortars start to fall off due to the influence of water (rain, snow, dew), acids, UV rays, sand or wind. This happens when:
-
spray or stick you will put on a poorly prepared, that is, inaccurately cleaned, dusty or unskimmed surface – it is also a mistake to apply paint directly to rust,
-
you will make outdoor mortars in winter, late autumn or under conditions of increased humidity (above 70-80 percent), which prevents the varnish from drying out,
-
you will put the primer against the recommendations of the paint manufacturer, relying solely on your own knowledge and experience,
-
you will use low-quality or outdated preparations.
Want to cover small, narrow scratches exactly? Instead of a spray and a brush, use a drawing pen (rapidographer) or an ordinary wooden toothpick, with which you will tightly fill all, even the smallest cavities with paint.
Is it worth doing the paint mortars yourself?
Spray paint mortars are widely seen as an ad hoc, amateurish way to quickly and inexpensively renovate. It is an alternative for people who do not want to involve refinishers or rent repair and construction companies to refresh a fence, gutters or gate. Thanks to the use of cheap and publicly available paints and sticks, you can independently restore the metal surfaces to their original appearance and inhibit the corrosion process.
Carefully made mortars will last up to several years, protecting the metal from progressive destruction and rust. Such minor repairs are worth doing on their own, to avoid the high cost of painting services or painting a fence. However, if the scratches are deep and the rusty spots arrive at a rapid pace, consider carrying out a thorough overhaul or replacement of worn metal parts.
