What is the best way to paint a concrete fence?

Painting a concrete fence is a procedure that is worth repeating every few years to preserve its aesthetic appearance and protect the fence from damage. In construction shops and wholesalers you can buy many types of paints for concrete fences,emulsions or impregnations. What to look for when choosing them?

Good concrete paints should have certain properties, i.e.:

• resistance to adverse external factors: high sun and intense UV rays, high and low temperatures, moisture (rain and snow, fog, shady), salt and acids, located in the air,

• resistance to abrasion, cracking, shrinkage,

• they should form a tight, flexible, waterproof coating.

Paints for concrete fences: types

Among the different types of products for painting and maintenance of concrete structures, two groups can be distinguished: paints for concrete fences and impregnations. Paints are used to protect and cover external surfaces and give them a certain color, while impregnations penetrate deep into the concrete structure, protecting it from damage and discoloration.

To protect and give the fence a fresh, intense color, color impregnations can be used, with an admixture of pigment: yellow, gray, red or black. These products are ideal for painting concrete fences, aswell as for maintainingold, matte paving stones.

What to paint a concrete wall? Types of paints

What are the types of paints for covering concrete external structures? The products most commonly chosen for the protection and painting of concrete fences are paints:

• acrylic (some of the cheapest, available on the Polish market, perfectly adhere to the dried substrate, have a rich color palette),

• acrylic-silicone (water-dilutable, non-suscultive, vapor permeable, long retain vivid colors, do not splash),

• silicone (they form a very durable, vapour-permeable layer, resistant to play, mold, cleaning and abrasion),

• chloro-rubber emals (used for the preservation and decoration of concrete or metal, contain synthetic resins, forming tight, flexible layers),

• epoxy emals (colourless or colourless, contain epoxy resin and hardeners, have increased resistance to adverse weather conditions: UV rays, moisture, mechanical damage).

So what to paint the concrete fence? When choosing a paint, it is best to choose it to the specifics of the fence – for example, for long, extensive and older fences it is best to use acrylic or acrylic-silicone paints, while for small areas or newly erected fences (walls, wall tiles) it is worth using more expensive resin emals, which will protect the structure from discoloration, fungus and mchemes.

Painting a concrete fence – how to do it?

Manufacturers of concrete paints recommend that they be applied only to a carefully cleaned surface. Concrete must therefore be well dried, free of greasy stains and memes, so that preparations will cover it well, and unsightly bubbles, discolorations, cracks or chipping will not be formed.

To achieve satisfactory results, that is, an evenly distributed coating of paint, it is necessary to paint the fence spray- Using a pistol, instead of traditional tools such as a roller or brush, allows you to well cover all the crevices and openwork elements of the concrete fence – this is also a more economical method, because the whole procedure takes much less time and there is no loss of material.
