Natural fence of the plot and the construction of a pen for the dog

Today, many people decide to create a natural fence around the property in the form of different species of plants year-round and perennial. The dream of many is also to have a dog that would guard the area from intruders. In our article, we will tell you how to arrange a pen for a pet so as to keep a proper distance from the boundaries of neighboring plots and what kind of hedge to use.

Natural fence – what is it?

Natural fences are an interesting option for those who are not alien to environmental issues and those looking for unusual ideas for arranging their workaround. Instead of installing fencing panels, pvc-coated spans, metal meshes and prefabricated walling, you can plant perennial plants that will eventually create a dense, charming spatula.

What species are most often used to build natural fences? Plants such as ligustr, emeralds or brabants (known as fattening), beech, spruces, grab common, barberry, laurels and cypresses are known and valued. Such species grow rapidly and have little soil requirements.

Multi-zone, natural fence of the property

Owners of quadrupeds like to let their pets into the property, so that the animals at least for a moment respite from the limited space of the catwalk. Especially young dogs of several years can then lose newly planted plants or excavate them, which usually generates some financial losses and requires repeploying individual plants.

In order to prevent such situations, natural fencing can be divided into two or even three zones so that the outer ones form: spruces, cypresses or barberry bushes, the middle – lower plants or flowers, such as roses, quinces or agaves, and on the last inner line you can give pots with bushwood, lavender or miniature conifers, which will discourage the dog from penetrating further parts of the spatula.

Distance of the dog pen from the boundary of the plot

It is the responsibility of each owner of the quadruped to provide him with a safe place and a catwalk of a certain size, adapted to the growth of the animal. The smallest pens have a minimum of 9 m² for dogs up to 50 cm high at the withers, while the largest ones are 15 m² for large dogs, from 65 cm at the withers. However, Polish law does not regulate in any way the distance to be maintained between the pen and the boundary of the adjacent plot.

There are also no contraindications to the construction of a paddock in the Civil Code or the Animal Protection Act of 21 August 1997 when the property is fenced with a natural plant spatula. However, so-called good customs apply here, i.e. respect for the right of neighbours to peace and security. Therefore, you should not build a pen right at the border lines to avoid the risk of violating someone else's property or the safety of those on the other side of the plot.

It is worth remembering that the natural fence will only after a few years have an extensive root system and will become so high that the animal will not exceed it or excavate it under it. The pet paddock should therefore be additionally secured in case the dog attempts to escape – concrete or prefabricated brick works can be used for this purpose.

If the property is small, it is good to plan the catwalk with the pen so that it does not come into direct contact with the line of newly planted shrubs. why? The reason is simple: the animal can contaminate the soil with urine, which will negatively affect the development of plants and can even cause them to wither.

If the plot is very small and there is no way to plan a pen away from the boundary lines, it is worth considering the construction of a traditional mesh fence or galvanized panels, and for a hedge to reserve a narrow strip right next to the grid - it will act as an additional protection of the metal structure. In this way, the animal will have limited capacity to cause any damage to the adjacent property.

Panel fences can also be shielded from neighbours with tarpaulins, t and nets available from manufacturers such as STAL and its online www.tanidrut.com.
