The foundation of the fence – make it from concrete
When planning to make a fence around your property, it is important to choose the type of foundation. If the ground is stable, you can only place the fence on the posts, but when the ground turns out to be uneven or you just want the fence to look more aesthetically pleasing and additionally protect against the ingress of animals, bet on a solid concrete wall.
The concrete foundation under the fence effectively supports the entire fence structure for many years and will work for both system fences and ordinary mesh. Currently, 2 types of concrete walling are used: in the form of a screed or finished prefabricated elements, with different shapes and widths, which you can adjust to your needs.
Making a formwork under the fence
The traditional method, or concrete screed, is more time-consuming than the installation of finished prefabricated products, but has been of unquenchable interest for years. There is no doubt that it is a very durable system, and thanks to well-made dilatation there is no risk of cracks or damage to the wall. Such a concrete structure will survive changing climatic conditions, temperature fluctuations and humidity, however, already at the stage of preparation of formwork you need to remember a few important issues.
The quality of the formwork is of great importance. Do you want the wall to be strong and shaped? Rent formwork from the local warehouse, instead of preparing them yourself from questionable quality materials. You'll save a lot of time while avoiding the problem of unsightly curvature or exporting waste, such as concrete-stained boards. After completing the formwork process, you return the formwork to the company, thus gaining order on your property.
Concrete – made by own or from a concrete plant?
Where to get concrete to make the foundation of the fence? If you have a small yardage to make, you can prepare the concrete yourself using ingredients such as cement, water and gravel, which you mix in the concrete mixer, keeping the right proportions depending on the amount of binder needed. Remember that if you want to concrete the wall yourself, you need access to electricity and water on the property.
An alternative to self-made concrete is freight concrete. Such a ready-made mixture is prepared by the local concrete mix. The binder is poured directly into the formwork, which saves time and obtains precisely distributed layers of concrete, which further promotes their even drying.
How to achieve the durability of concrete walling
Do you want the concrete wall to serve many years to come? Remember that the best time to spout the foundation of a fence is spring and autumn, when the temperatures outside are not too low or high, within a dozen to a maximum of twenty degrees. Building a concrete fence in the summer, in the rays of the scorching sun, is not a good idea and can result in the material drying out too quickly, followed by its crushing and cracking. Winter is also not conducive to spouts – concrete can freeze and it is necessary to use admixtures that delay this process.
Cultivate a fresh spout for at least 10 – 14 days, regularly watering it with lukewarm water. Thanks to this, you will strengthen the structure of concrete, which will not lose one of its most important components, namely water. Spraying the wall will also eliminate the risk of cracks that could negatively affect the stability of the span in the future.
Prefabricated concrete wall
Finished concrete modules have become a real hit in recent decades due to the fast and simple installation, as well as high quality and good price. Instead of tedious, time-consuming rampingof the fence foundation, you only make the right depth of the trench, in which you then embed the concrete modules in turn: slabs and theirfasteners, preserving the pawn and level.
The prefabricated wall has internal reinforcement, which also gives it greater flexibility and resistance to various external factors, such as impacts or strong winds. Even if there is damage, you can efficiently replace individual slabs or fastenerswithout having to fork concrete or costly demolition of large sections of the fence.
Unusual foundations for fencing
If you attach great importance to design and care about the modern appearance of the fence, ready-made prefabricated modules with decorative embossing will be the best option for you. In many brick and mortar stores, you'll already buy brick and slate brick and slate bricks – ready-made foundation finishes you won't get with a traditional spout where the walls are always straight.
Remember that the concrete foundation does not have to be kept in a gray shade! The original visual effect of the fence will be obtained by using wallwashed walls with architectural concrete, imitating sand or multicolored gravel. Such modules will work well for both system and palisa fences or blinds, emphasizing the color scheme of metal spans.
